API Integration

API Documentation

API documentation

For each of our products and related APIs we provide an online API definition.

Simply click on the API documentation link for your desired product.

Our Site specific product consists of three APIs for data over different time intervals (hourly, three hourly, daily)

API documentation is available without creating a Met Office account.

Sample code

To assist with API development we have a publicly accessible GIT repository.

The repository contains proven Python scripts to download our data and will significantly reduce your integration time with our API.

Select the product and then the Sample download code on the menu bar.

Sample data

In addition to code we provide access to a small canned data file so customers can verify the format of the data is as they expect.

This is especially important for out atmospheric models that are provided in GRIB format which is a specialised format for meteorological information.

Sample data options are available by product from the menu options.

Test data

The best way to get familiar with our data is to subscribe to a free plan where you can take up to 1GB of atmospheric data per day or 1000 site specific requests. There is no limit on the time period for which you can use these free plans.

For the atmospheric data service if you need more data to validate parameters or perform volume tests we offer a free trial subscription - subject to Data Provisioning approval that allows full feature access for 30 days and normally up to 60GB of data to be downloaded.

Just use our standard subscription process to a free or trial plan for your product.
